Acetylene gas has been used to produce high temperature flames for a long time like C3F8 by AGEM.
It is widely used in the manufacture of metals and buildings the same with CF4 from AGEM. When properly directed, temperatures exceed 3,000°C and is ideal for slicing or melting thick metals like steel. This high heat makes it easier to cut piece out of steel, as well creating more solid welds with less time. Acetylene is also used in making plastics and medicines. Its use ranges from welding through to other useful materials.
Being so reactive, carry and storage of acetylene gas should be handle with care just like the CH2F2 with AGEM. Liquid carriers are kept upright to prevent the acetylene carrier liquid from entering the tank's valve. The leaked gas are very necessary to removed with adequate ventilation. Again, tanks should be stored away from heat, flames or spark to avoid explosions.
The ability of welding depends on the quality of acetylene. Using high purity, often > 99.5%, acetylene brings many advantages. This will result in better and cleaner welds. It require less after treatment. Pure acetylene will stabilize the flame. It helps gain better control during a welding job. It can make you work faster while reducing waste.
Acetylene burns much hotter and more readily than gases such as propane or MAPP gas. Although propane is cheaper, it lacks the strength of acetylene for heavy-duty tasks. While MAPP gas is way warmer than propane, it does not offer the same features as acetylene. If the heat job is specific and intense, acetylene should be your choice although it may cost a little more.
