Tetrafluoromethane

Tetrafluoromethane, also known as carbon tetrafluoride, is a crystalline high purity gas consisting of two types of atoms, carbon and fluorine. It is a colorless gas, which means you cannot see it, and it is completely odorless. That is why it is commonly mean to as odorless. So remember the common AGEM tetrafluoromethane, which does not burn, making it safe to use in many ways. Tetrafluoromethane is a greenhouse gas. These calibration gases are significant as they are capable of trapping heat in the atmosphere, leading to the Earth warming up globally.

Understanding the Chemical Properties of Tetrafluoromethane

Tetrafluoromethane is a very stable compound, and does not readily yield to reactions with the other chemicals it can encounter. This particular property lends itself to many industrial jobs and applications. Its chemical formula is CF4. This formula indicates that there is a carbon atom and four fluorine atoms for each molecule of tetrafluoromethane. It is also a gaseous at standard temperatures - with a boiling point of just -128°C. It also freezes at -183°C, indicating that it can exist in different states depending on the temperature.
