Lighting up the night sky

One of the best known uses for neon gas is in neon signs. The signs work by pumping neon gas into glass tubes and then passing electricity through the tubes. Electricity is then conducted through the gas, which flares up and glows brightly. This is why their colors are so neon bright and their glow so head-turning. As the magic in any night sky, you can spot neon signs on buildings, in shops, and above the streets of big cities.
