oxygen and acetylene

Do you realize that metal work uses two gasses of tremendous importance which are oxygen and acetylene? These gases are delivered in large tanks and are used for welding and cutting metal. Oxygen is a gas we breathe to live; acetylene is a gas that burns very hot. When combined, these gases can create a flame hot enough to melt metal.

The role of oxygen and acetylene in metal joining processes

When a metalworker wants to put two pieces of metal together, they use oxygen and acetylene. Mixing these gases together they form heat, a flame, that melts the metal and makes it stick together. This is known as welding. References to glue guns are appropriate: Just as crafters employ hot glue to join materials together, so too do they use a hot flame, rather than glue, to solder the pieces of metal.
